As a principal, you should know that each chapter is required to publish a description of its selection and dismissal procedures. Putting these procedures in writing and making them available to students, parents, and faculty will promote the fair and professional nature of your chapter’s activities. It will also help counter any perceptions that your chapter is secretive.
It is recommended that selection and dismissal procedures be published in any or all of the following:
- School website
- Student handbook
- Parent handbook or some form of parent communication
- Faculty handbook
Chapter advisers have a responsibility to provide this information and facilitate its publication as called for in Article IX, section 4, of the NHS National Constitution.
