NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
How Will You Celebrate Your Student Leaders?
Taking place April 16–22, National Student Leadership Week (NSLW) celebrates the important work of your student leaders. This year’s theme is “Making a World of Difference,” amplifying the NASSP student leadership initiative focusing on global citizenship. To make that theme come to life, we’re inviting chapters and members to participate in our “Tasty-style” Video Challenge. Chapters are encouraged to create a video in the style of one of those mouthwatering “Tasty” videos you may see in your social media feeds. Ask your members to show how they are making global change and post it on social media. Be sure to use #NSLW17 and #MakingGlobalChange, and tag @nhs_njhs on Twitter or Instagram. Also, visit www.nhs.us/nslw and www.njhs.us/nslw for more celebration ideas and resources.

Changes Coming for the Outstanding Service Project Award Program
Is your chapter planning to enter the Outstanding Service Project (OSP) award program next year? If so, take note of changes for the upcoming academic year. Beginning with the 2017–18 year, the deadline for OSP applications will be on November 1 each year. Projects must have been started and completed between August 1 and June 30 of the previous academic year. The application will be available on the NHS and NJHS websites and can be submitted any time between July 1 and November 1 each year. That means for this coming year, any project you submit must have been completed by this June 30. As of July 1 of this year, you can begin the application process. Schools selected to receive this recognition will be notified in February each year.
Honor Your Assistant Principals
Celebrate National Assistant Principals Week April 10–14. Assistant principals contribute to school and student success and this is a week dedicated to recognizing that. Why not send your assistant principal an e-card to say “thanks”? Find it, as well as other activities on the NASSP website. Share your assistant principal success stories and activities on social media with #APWeek17.
Time to Renew
You will soon receive a letter by mail, including an invoice, to renew your school’s affiliation for the 2017–18 school year. Renew before June 30 for uninterrupted communication into next school year. Want to renew sooner? Do it online right now:

The survey asks you to quantify the work of your students in service and school improvement projects.
