At this time of year, many of you have had charity drives to help those in need. There have been thousands of pounds of food and hundreds of coats, hats, toys, and more collected that will brighten their holiday season. Thank you for taking care of these needs in your community.
Make sure to check out the “Collaboration Space” and read about the councils and chapters highlighted there. You may find new ideas to try at your school. Encourage your student leaders to submit their great activities to the National Student Project Database, and maybe you’ll see your council or chapter highlighted in an upcoming issue. The student-authored “Active Voices” column shines a spotlight on mindful campaigning and active citizenship, so please pass those pages on to your student leaders. And if you have a student you think would be a great fit for a future “Active Voices” feature, be sure to reach out to [email protected].
We are close to beginning a new calendar year, and this issue has articles that may provide time for reflection and opportunities for discussion with your chapter and council around equity and inclusion and the participation of your student body.
Also, we thank you for your leadership in guiding your student leaders and all you do for your schools and your communities. The opportunities for students to participate and the memories you have helped create are things that they will remember forever. We wish you a relaxing holiday season so that you start the new year energized to continue the great work of creating a positive school culture and climate.
