Celebrate Outstanding Achievement

NJHS Advisers: Are there student achievements you wish to celebrate? What if that recognition gave your students a boost in their college savings? Help your middle level students in their quest for higher education by nominating your top NJHS members for the NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award. There will be 500 honorees each receiving $500 in a 529 college savings plan account. Prior winners are not eligible. Nominations are due by February 25. Visit www.njhs.us/oaa for more information.

Cultivating Student Leaders

As an adviser, you guide your students to build their leadership skills. Encourage them to take that knowledge to the next level with NatStuCo’s Distinguished Student Leader Program. This recognition program demonstrates exemplary leadership abilities in high school student council leaders and is a great distinction for college applications. Students who are chosen receive national recognition, but more importantly, they cultivate skills they will carry with them throughout their professional lives. Visit www.NatStuCo.org/distinguished for details.

Ignite Leadership Potential

This year’s National Student Council Conference will be held on June 24–26, 2019, just outside of Pittsburgh at South Fayette High School in McDonald, PA. The theme, Forging Student Leaders, seeks to light the fire within students, advisers, and administrators as they connect with their peers and discover new ways to enhance their leadership abilities. Join middle level and high school student leaders and advisers from across the country for this motivational three-day event. Check out www.NatStuCoConference.org for updates! If you are interested in speaking in the speaker showcase, be sure to fill out an interest form.

#Futuready

Are your students #Futuready? The NHS- and NJHS-affiliated series is designed to build basic, vital skills that will help middle level and high school students as they prepare for college, career, and lifetime success. The #Futuready series is comprised of five modules—goal setting, time management, self-management, exploring careers, and mastering interviews—all broken down into straightforward, visual guides. Direct your students to these modules and share with everyone at National Honor Society-affiliated schools by visiting www.nhs.us/futuready or www.njhs.us/futuready.

Build Your Community

The value of being able to connect and interact with peers cannot be overstated. That’s why NASSP developed the Adviser Online Community.
